The first meeting of the Warren County Retired Teachers' Association
was held on February 1, 1971. Thelma Elzey chaired this first organizational meeting and served as the first president.
It was decided that the object of the organization would be "to promote the social, professional and economic status
of our retired teachers."
A full slate of officers was elected in 1972 They were:

In the early days meetings were held in various communities
around the county. Local churches and Otterbein Home were popular sites. As the organization grew, local restaurants
were utilized. The October 2, 1972 meeting was held at Clemons Restaurant at the corner of St. Rt. 122 and Hart Rd.
The roast beef meal cost $2.50 (tax and tip included)!
The programs for these early meetings included legislative
news, news important to senior citizens and often entertainment. The summer meeting was usually a picnic held at a Warren
County park or Oeder's Lake in Morrow, Ohio.
